IBM LinuxONE is a premiere offering for IBM Infrastructure that has a loyal following. These graphics were created to support the launch of IBM LinuxONE Emperor 4.
We were presented with a unique challenge for IBM in that the design of the product itself features the color orange (hinting at its relationship with Linux). IBM’s identity and design language is based in the color blue, which is the exact opposite of orange. At the time, orange was not a color in the official design language save for error messages.
After consulting with global design leadership, we chose the direction of fully leaning into the orange. Using a combination of 3D renderings and graphics created in partnership with Colors and the Kids as well as traditional product photography and illustration closely tied to the design language, my team delivered a robust campaign toolkit. We additionally partnered with CATK to create a video celebrating the launch.
This campaign was featured in Visuelle as an example of great creative.

“Thank you for everything you’ve done leading up to the LinuxONE launch this week. Having spent months navigating evolving needs and cross-functional stresses, you should feel very proud of the camaraderie as well as creativity you’ve brought about.”

Launch video
The launch video was written by my ACD partner and brought to life by Colors and the Kids and our internal production team.
Product photography

I served as Art Director for the product photoshoot with our partner, Spencer Lowell. Used the product photography guidelines I developed alongside Spencer and his teams to ensure we were capturing photos that would sit alongside all other IBM photography.
3D graphics
Worked with CATK to pull animated graphics from the launch video that could be used in social tiles as well as other IBM marketing communication to support the launch.
Swag
What sort of product launch would be complete without swag? T-shirts, notebooks, pens and more were created to support in-person launch events as well as given to IBMers to show off their LinuxONE pride. These items featured a custom illustration featuring Tux from Linux per special request from the product team.
